Min Wu lab investigates fundamental mechanisms of respiratory infection and immunity to help discover new regulators of disease pathogenesis, ultimately revealing new targets for effective therapy of some horrible superbugs infection. Considering bacterial/viral virulence and pathogenesis (Pseudomonas bacterium or SARS-CoV-2 virus), the lab asks how CRISPR-Cas and other bacterial adaptive immune systems regulate pathogen endogenous gene expression to dictate bacterial invasion and alter the host defense using a combination approach (cell biology, advanced microscopy, negative genetics, scRNA-seq, bioinformatics, microbiomics and in vivo functional studies involving animal models of infection/intestinal inflammation).
Using a wide range of established animal models, we are trying to understand how immune responses to mucosal pathogens and during Intestinal inflammation are regulated. Questions regarding this recruitment can be sent to Dr. Min Wu at min.wu@und.edu.
